Persistent Prayer
Luke 18 The Parable of the Persistnt Widow is my favorite on prayer. The story talks about a widow who continually goes to a judge, who neither fears God or respects man. The judge finally gives her what she wants so that "she will not beat me down by her continual coming". Verse 6 is our promise from Jesus, "Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" This story reminds me of my mom. Sometimes I think she is still in heaven going to Jesus for us. My mom loved to talk and was a prayer warrior (family trait?). Prayer is a way for us to stand in the gap for our loved ones. We stand in faith believing what we do not see but accepting in our hearts it is done.
