Take Up My Cross

I watched short video by Beth Moore about her book "Audacious." She stated, " What is Your Dream, What is Your Vision For the Future?" She said, this is nothing new. She encouraged women to write it down. If I could have anything I want to be "Drenched, soaked, filled, totally in love with Jesus." By saying this, I am scared. This means dying to ME! I am so drenched, soaked filled and totally in love with myself this scares the crap out of me!!! Being a servant goes against everything our world has ever taught me. I think it is scary, because of the old line, be careful what you pray for!!! ““If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:37-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/mat.10.37-39.nlt “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16:24-26‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/mat.16.24-26.nlt BOTH OF THESE PASSAGES SAY: TAKE UP YOUR CROSS!!!!! This is not a pretty analogy!!! Christianity, being a Christ Follower is the hardest life you will ever live. I think many churches preach a vanilla version because most people do not count the cost. Have I counted the cost?????

  1. Just thinking this morning about the youth of men and women preaching on TV today, and then I wondered about the possible ages of the disciples when they walked with Our Lord. They were probably quite young, as Christ, too, was young.
And I imagine those exuberant young men and women thought they could never measure up to be disciples of Christ. But they would try . . .and they must have failed, and then they tried. . .
And then they learned to be open to the baptism, the leading, and the power of the Holy Spirit. And though they suffered like I hope I never suffer, they did not fail as easily, and the Holy Spirit eventually pulled them through the eye of the needle where Jesus waits for us on the other side.
